Snow, no snow, Snow? No Snow, SNOW?

The weather forecasters drive me nuts in the winter.  I'm really not a big fan of snow but for Cody's sake, I wish we would get some so he can go out and play.  Last year I was wishing for good weather.  I couldn't miss 1 day of radiation and I didn't want the weather to ruin my perfect attendance.  But this year, I'm healthy, so bring on the snow and let my little Cody build a tunnel.

So on Thursday we actually got snow.  I went to bed late Wednesday night and happen to watch the weather.  The weatherman said we were getting a one-two punch.  A one-two what??  When did this come on the radar.  I watch the weather all the time to plan my winter work wordrobe and this week, it's been chilly with highs in the low 20's.  So I went to sleep only to wake up to SNOW in the morning.  I was shocked.  They actually got it right.  Schools delays and closings were running across the screen of the tv.  I wondered if Cody's preschool was open?  Ken left for work and called me telling me that the roads were slick.  Well I'm certainly not going to kill myself to get to work.  Especially since Cody wasn't up to par.

Today, was day 2 or the one-two punch.  I woke up today and there was nothing.  The weather forecasters said it should show up for the evening rush hour.  Oh brother....that's all I need.  I took the long way to work today since it would be crazy to drive on snow covered back roads.  The main roads would at least be clear.  And they were.  But the drive home wasn't too bad.  The snow started coming down around 3pm.  The commute home wasn't bad but the snow was definitely beginning to stick.  I wasn't going to jump on the toll road but I thought, why drive 15 additional minutes to avoid the toll.  Right when I got to my turn off the normal longer route was completely packed.  Bumper to bumper so I decided, just pay and get home.  Glad I did.  Who knows how long it would take to get through that backup.  I grabbed little Cody and settled in the house.

Spaghetti tonight - his favorite.   By the time Ken got home, the snow was just about over. A fast moving system that came in and left.  No major accumulation.  But before we did call it a night, Cody got that one handful of snow in his hand and thrust it at me with all his might.  He was so ready for that snowball fight.     Don't worry, at the next snowfall.....game on.

  1. Yeah the snow drove me batty too! It was slick in Richmond for like two hours and I left a little early and still got stuck in some nasty driving conditions. Plus, people do not know how to drive in the snow or any kind of bad weather around here.
