Last year, having a garden was great therapy for me. It's hard to explain but I took such enjoyment in watching things grow, both the vegetables and the flowers. This year we decided to try something new. There was a flower bed on the side of our house that we just didn't love. Ken thought if he dug it up for me, that it would be a nice garden in addition to whatever I wanted to plant in the flower pots. I was so excited. I never really took the actual dimensions of the plot but I'm estimating between 3 ft wide by 4 ft long. Here's a photo of what I'm going to be working with. I'M SO EXCITED!!!!

Kindergarten Registration
I can't believe it. Today was Kindergarten registration and would you be shocked to know that it took me 5 hours to register little Cody? Yes it's true. Apparently where I live there are too many kids and not enough space in the elementary school. So at 6am Ken drove by the Legacy and there was already a line. So I quickly drove over and are you ready???? At 6:10am, I was sitting outside in a fold up chair waiting for the doors to open.
At 7:00 am the sun was coming up. Registration was to begin at 9am but they opened the doors so we could get numbers. Slowly I inched toward the door, wondering what number I was going to get. The best thing is they told us instead of waiting, we could go home and come back but we had to be back in time for our number to be called. Huh? Since I never did this before I wondered how long it would take. I finally got through the door and was handing magic number 88. Holy smokes!!! I knew I was back in line but I didn't realize I was number 88. There are only 150 slots available for the Kindergarten class of 2013-2014. I felt a sigh of relief.
Ken's mom had already gotten Cody to school by the time I got home. I got to hang out at the house till about 10am and headed over. It took about 1 hour and by 11am I was done. All required paperwork is now with the school and little Cody is registered for Kindergarten.
Holy smokes, I'm wiped but now I'm off to work.
A woman's day is never done.

NO MORE FEATHERS!!!!
I spent most of the 80's strategically curling my hair to create the most fantastic feathers...we're talking the famous Farrah Fawcett feathers. Hours in the morning before school and hairspray to finish my final look.
But now......30 plus some odd years later, I get cancer. I'm bald. My dark brown virgin hair grows in and before you know it I don't get straight hair, I don't get curly hair, I get FEATHERS. Now don't get me wrong, I'm thrilled to have hair and I'm actually quite excited that it's growing in as thick and full as it is as well as no grays. It's actually getting to a decent workable length but no matter how I style my hair the feathers seem to find their way on the side of my head and feather away. It's driving me nuts!!!!
So....this weekend I finally conquered my hair. I put some product on it and got out the big flat iron. I took sections of my hair. (I know....how exciting...my hair is long enough in parts to actually pull up in a clippy. You guys don't understand. This is ground breaking...like 14 months waiting for hair that I could actually pull up.) Anyway, I took the sections, pinned them up and started with blow drying those sections then after they were dry, using the big flat iron to flatten those feathers.
Whoa-la! It worked....IT REALLY WORKED. NO MORE FEATHERS!!! I am thrilled with the results and I'll post a photo soon.

Photography
I love taking photos. In fact I wish I knew how to use my camera better so I could take really great photos. Ken has bought me a few "How To" camera books but I have yet to read them. I want to but I feel like there's just no time. I guess I could make time but to me, there's so many other things I'd rather do then read a book about "how to" take better photos. So instead I just take tons of crappy photos hoping for that really good shot.. Ha-ha!
So I have this thing now, which I have no idea why. But I like to take photos of old barns/buildings. I guess it's a piece of history that fascinates me but yet, I don't want to know, I guess I like the mystery of it. So about 3 miles from my house there is this really old building. I always drive by it on my way home from work. Usually I zip by it and think, geez I should pull over and take a photo. But never do. Today, I was in the car and actually stopped at the light right in front of it. A little to close but you get the gist of what it looks like.
Just another form of therapy to keep my mind busy.
